How do you make your Table Buttons
Looking at Underused great WIP and his method of making table buttons got me thinking how dose everyone make there own
This is my way. I find it quick and simple and takes care of all the ends of 145 x 22 boards that have been docked.
I make the size to fit into the 10 x 22mm Domi mortice and would easy to use with routed slots

Now if someone could explain why are they called "buttons"

I cut mine with a curve on the bandsaw, they look a bit better to the woodworkers who check out under the table.
I don't know why they are called buttons, maybe because they firmly fasten two objects together but allow for some movement?- Wood Borer

I haven't got the time at the moment (Meg is going on holidays for 4 weeks) to show how I do it but I am sure you can figure it out.
I cut the curves on both ends of the timber, cut those two off, mark the next two etc.
These photos I just took are from under a stool I made recently.- Wood Borer

What a great idea.
Makes me think that a square piece, drilled with a decent size hole cutter on the drill press then quatered on the table saw might also work

I cut mine on a bandsaw too but without the curve.Visit my website at www.myFineWoodWork.com

You could also shape them like that with a spindle moulder or a router and then cut them like Lignum.
Think curves Scott not plain old straight line geometry.- Wood Borer

Lignum, I am surprised you aren't using a block of wood with a domino sticking out of it engaging into the second hole using the domino on wider hole setting

That would be: "Any pics, Love? To see the way you do it?" You know this is a very friendly forum.
