Hi Ding
My sister is a quilter and she's at me to make her a "quick-un-pick" holder. You know those plastic thingys they unpick stitches with. well they're small and hard to handle so she wants me to make a caddy for them that they press fit into, and a fitting cap that goes on it. Sort of like a fountain pen kit if you have a lathe. Sorry, no pics. Hope you get what I mean.

THAT IS MY THOUGHTS EXAKATAKALLY!!
Fletty if you would thats a bloody beauty! its a fold down sort eh? would be ideal Ive been toying with a rack but could only get the idea of a stand alone rack something about 2mtrs tall and near on 2mtrs wide sorta so she can hang it to show the full quilt?... but damn my eyes I start seein masses of problems with balance size of foot spacial area and given that she would probably be moving it around or trying to put it out the way its been driving me knuts trying to work it out
Kerry thats excellent!
Brilliant ideas everyone thanks
Regarding the comment that as shes not my mother why not help the nippers make something... good idea... and the kids are making her things to give her without my help pretty crafty bunch this mob No shes not my mother but she is the mother of my kids and well given that shes given birth to more kids than most women do nowadays... willingly... I cant see a reason in the world not to give her a mothers day gift from myself
Anyways the best all thanks heepsBelieve me there IS life beyond marriage!!! Relax breathe and smile learn to laugh again from the heart so it reaches the eyes!!

a blanket/quilt chest may be more practical ...with compartments for needles etc .....having them hanging over a rack may look good .....but it would only be short term in most cases ...

Don't be practical!
You've got less than a fortnight. You're not going to be able to come up with something AND finish it in that short a time.
Besides...
She doesn't want anything practical or for that matter a thing.
Get a gift certificate for dinner but only give her half the gift certificate. You retain the other half. Make a date with her to go to dinner. Arrive with flowers and a really clean vehicle to take her out.
OR
A puppy. (She'll either love you for it or hate you for it.)
