I've given up on my old(ish) Canon batch scanner. Getting SCSI to work on current computers became insurmountable. The Canoscan 9000F has a strip down the centre where you can scan to 9600dpi and, as Dad's negatives were cut into strips of 6, this allows me to batch scan the 6 …although it is slow!
One major plus however is that my Widelux panoramas, which are negatives or positives that are 24mm x 59mm, can now be scanned for the first time by laying them direct on the glass platen and sandwiching them with a piece of photographic glass on top.
I know that I will never scan the whole library and even doing the 'best 10%' will take more time than I can devote to it but ……....

SCSI wow they came out with the arc and you as carpenter repairer didn't they ..........he says still having cables and not long ago getting rid of a SCSI card

Hope you have plenty HDD's lined up at 9600dpi its going to be some storage and a backup system required.
