I have an early model 900watt 1/4 inch GMC router.....and it's a bleedin pearler, No bearing or shaft runout only occasionally need the contacts cleaning, but thats it. Also have an original "sandkat" also good, 71/4 saw noisy but works well, but had to return within hours 2 GMC cordless drills due to excessive runout, but then again a certain yellow brand didn't last real long in my hands either .
So on balance I reckon not too shabby for a company so young in a established colour/brand dominated field .Last edited by E. maculata; 9th June 2005 at 08:42 PM. Reason: got my units of measurement mixed up

My two cents.
I got a couple of GMC thingos, and they're fine. Their help-desk people are also very courteous and able as well - Aussie too!
You get what you pay for, and I reckon that GMC are excellent value for the quite small amounts of folding I can gather at one time.
Think back to some of your ealier WW pieces. Perhaps a leg was a bit wonky, or a shelf not perfectly square - but you MADE IT YOURSELF. Don't know about you, but I got a really good feeling inside when I made this little jobbie...
..hope I did this right!
It was done with a GMC router, a slightly blunt chisel, a jigsaw and a SCMS (another mob). It can hold my weight easily, so my little daughter is no problems, and my wife was ecstatic with the results....which is by far the more important thing!
My next project is going to be some shelving or some such. Whatever, it's all good! That's what I like about doing wood work, it's all yours. GMC has allowed me to do this to some extent, so that is important.
Like a lot of people here, I drool over the lastest bit of kit from Triton, but it is slightly out of reach - I'll get there one day, but for now it's budget cityUmmmm, what was the question?

Very nice Fat Pat. I'm sure it serves the purpose very well and with the cutout at the feet end it will still be OK in a few years because her legs can then just go over the edge.
Not serious mate. It looks nice and practical.

I don't own any GMC tools yet
I have always sought the advice of those more knowledgeable than myself before buying tools
The chance to have them seriously and realistically evaluated and the report put on these pages seems to scare you we can only ask why
But You and those behind you have there reasons why they don't want their tools tested inderpendantly, we can only Guess
