Thread: Library Chair/Step Plan
-

OK guys
If you have been following my thread 'WIP Library Chair/Steps' you would have seen the progress of my library chair/steps and that I am currently drawing up good detail plans in TurboCad in metric measurements that tries to update to a more contempory design. I have done alot of research on this style of chair/steps and most plans are imcomplete regarding all detail measurements, they also lack a good design style offering only something basic. I will be posting the finished chair in a few days.

Do know a supplier of suitable hinges, that would save me from messing around making them?

Library steps
Here's a pic of a set of library steps I made about a year ago. It has the minimalist approach!! Timbers used are: treads are rock maple and the rest is new guinea rosewood.
The treads are held to the sides with tapered dovetail wedges made over length then cut to length after they're knocked in fully. The angled sides are joined to the base with hefty mortice and tenon joints. They have served me well and are also great for changing light bulbs!! I have some felt glued to the bottom so the steps just slide along my polished timber floor.

Great work.
They are the best examples I have seen.
Take your time with the plans but I will move this chair up my "To Do" list.
I saw a set of steps that folded out of a Tea Table that looks very smart.
I think it was on the English Woo Working program that had a run a little while back.Scally

Seriph1, you may need something with a taller reach than a metamorphic chair...
.
I know you believe you understand what you think I wrote, but I'm not sure you realize that what you just read is not what I meant.
