Lichtenberg machine
I have been thinking about getting a Lichtenberg machine, but the only ones I have found that you can buy are 120V. Conestoga Works - Lichtenberg Figure Wood Burners 2017 Does anyone know where I may find one in Australia?

The specification sheet says if using 220/240v, use a step down converter of at least 500W so they obviously sell in other countries.

I'd buy the 1kW transformer. The system can cruise along at 50% of maximum (which may be a struggle, depending on the amperage draw.)
Have you watched the Lichtenberg patterns develop? Amazing.
I lived in Melbourne for 4 years. The infernal transformers sat in the kitchen at both ends of the travels.

Hi Brad
Most fractal burners (aka lichtenburg machines) that I have seen have been custom made and based on a microwave transformer. They work at very high voltage - 2,000-20,000 volts - but comparatively low amperage. The wattage is limited by the transformer. (W = V x A)
Suggest that you talk to a skilled electrician or electronics engineer.
The current delivered is well into killer country.
Cheers
Graeme

Thanks for the replies. I will need to look into it a bit more. I have thought about making my own, but it looks a bit dangerous. I'd like to be around to see the results!
