This is a disgraceful outcome. It started with a post from acco, who seems to .......no. I won't say what I really think. It was perpetuated by a moderator, and then we have a new boy chiming in with the sort of comments that I've only read on other (non-woodwork) forums where it is apparently open slather. Perhaps the new boy has been a willing participant in those types of comments elsewhere.
This is not what I expect from these forums, or the moderation team.
Big Shed, acco, two40 - are you pleased with the outcome? Is that what you wanted?

Yikes guys, scribbly's intentions were only good. I don't believe he sits there on his blog staring at his view count for pleasure!
His blog is a tool to share his passion with other likeminded individuals, and what better place to find those people than on this forum? If you do not want to view his blog then don't click it, and if you have a predisposition towards him then surely you can just steer clear of his threads.
I sincerely hope he returns to the forum rather than bowing to the vocal minority.

Brett, have a look at post #4, SG responded to Acco (who by the way has contributed more to this forum than all the above posters, you included, put together, as DJs Timber).
I in turn responded to SG and then bowed out of this after SG decided to play the man rather than the ball, as you are doing now.
Are you, of all people, seriously suggesting that we as moderators cannot express an opinion?
I will reiterate my stance on links to blogs, just in case you didn't get it in the first place.
I have absolutely no problem with people having a link to their BLOG in their signature, what I have a problem with, as did Acco in his first post, is the increasing incidence of "teaser" posts. These posts contribute nothing to the forum, despite SG's protestations, and are purely there to direct people to the BLOG owners site.
SG is by no means the only person doing this, have a look at Woodwoulds' last post above, but he decided to express his opinion, an opinion I disagreed with, politely I might add, which is more than I can say for your "play the man" post above,

I didn't want to point to specific threads or single out specific users on the board but seeing that some individuals decided to take it personally, I'll point out this one that was under my radar at the time of starting this thread, https://www.woodworkforums.com/member...ham-mcculloch/, and just for your info SG, you were towards the bottom of the list, but from the replies you've made to this thread, you have now crept up towards the top of the list plus another forum member, and no it isn't you Brett, in fact he hasn't made a contribution to this thread and I'd be surprised if he does.
Cheers
DJ

This is obviously an issue and one the mods need to address maybe? My opinion apparently doesn't matter since I'm new around here. Or so I've been told in private messages where I've been pretty much attacked (not by all that contacted me).
My response to SG was immature and for that I apologise to SG and to the rest that were offended. I responded in haste and without any respect. No one deserves that. I hope you can all forgive me because I would like to be a part of this community.
Having said that, my opinion still stands. Teaser posts are contra to everything a forum stands for and I don't care what kind of spin you put on it to justify it. If the mods don't take any issue with them then I accept them and move on.

Maybe this thread should be closed and hope that Scribbly changes his mind. I think we've all had our opinion and it's turned out nasty.

If anyone has a system concern it's easily dealt with: PM a moderator asking for the mod group to consider whether a policy is necessary.
SG's contributions to this forum have been outstanding over the years. If the moderation process can't protect the quality of the online community that we've enjoyed then it's failing.Cheers, Ern

You hit the nail hard SG but you hit it true.
SG I hope truely this is not the case.
The good side is I have your blog updates emailed s I can go on reading about your woodorking, photography exploits and will do so as I do with Derek Cohan's, TTIT's and a few others.
