    Default Liquid Glass ?

I have a world clock I have made - I have inlaid (full depth) Australia and Europe and I plan on coating the front face with Aristocrat Liquid Glass (yes I know it is a bit like plastic but that is what I have for many reasons).

My question is that I am going to insert into this face six round photo inserts and was wondering if it is okay to drill 35mm dia holes (forstner bit)through the liquid glass OR should I drill the holes first and then tape around the holes for the flooding of the liquid glass to the clock face ?

The clock is 18mm thick redgum and the inserts will be 35 dia and about 7mm deep.

I would like to think the liquid glass will bond sufficiently that a clean cut can be done but I am not sure.

If I had time to experiment I would but as I think the LG needs some time to harden before drilling and I am leaving for overseas in just over a week I must make a decision this weekend which way to go.

    Any ideas??
    Cheers

Okay i have gone the safe option.

Predrilled the timber and taped up the holes to then flood the clock face with the liquid glass.

Will commence the application tomorrow night as I need a new brush for the sealer coat.

Still though I wonder how the forstner drill bits go through liquid glass - might do a test bit for future reference.

Ohh they'll be fine, you'll get a neat tidy crisp edge.

But don't get frustrated by that, if you hadn't played safe, it wouldn't have turned out at all well!

That's the code of the West for you!

    cheers,
