    Question Magnetic/whiteboard

Where would I purchase a piece of magnetic board and whiteboard. Originally I was going to have a corkboard, but I thought half and half magnetic/whiteboard maybe a better option. Finished size 36' x'23".

I don't believe you will buy "a piece of magnetic white board". Most of the companies that supply magnetic white boards are cradle to grave operations & will cheerfully sell you the finished product.
The best price on these hings is from the companies that supply schools with whiteboards & projector screens & the like.
The good ones are steel sheet with white ceramic coating.
    cheers
Non magnetic white board is easy.
Good quality gloss laminate works just fine.
    cheers

Curiously enough, one can now buy a magnetic paint  so you can paint a whole wall with the stuff and magnets will stick to it.

    Good luck!

Buy a piece of "Car magnetic sign material" from a sign shop. Roll this out over your whiteboard, it will adhere to a steel frame, or if the backing is wood or MDF type, glue it on with contact adhesive. Usually it is covered in white vinyl, so if you cover the whole surface of the board with this stuff , you can write anywhere on it with white board markers or stick metal objects to it.

It comes in 0.6 mm for fridge magnets and 0.8 mm for car magnetic signs.

What Gatiep said. Friend's workshop has a 'magnetic whiteboard' made from a 600x900 piece of magnetic sign stock, which is stuck to the side of a large (1200x1200x2400) safe.

    J!

My opinion is neither copyrighted nor trademarked, and its price is competitive. If you like, I'll trade for one of yours.

Coming in a bit late on this one, but cut the side out of a throwout washing machine, fridge, or whatever - the white enamelled sheetmetal should be the ducks guts.

Or you could just buy some "sign white" colourbond

    Hi Midge,

Just a note, my wife (who is a school teacher) wanted me to make her a "white board" using this magnetic paint about 12 months ago. We found out (after a lot of stuffing around) that it wasn't being made anymore

Note that we were looking for the Dulux Wonder Walls stuff. It may be being made again too

Yes I read about that myself.
I finished up doing the corkboard. Used some cork tiles with some camping mat foam underneath.
    It's goin' great so far.

They may not be making it because it didnt work very well. Friends painted their daughters wall with the stuff and after nine (expensive) coats, magnets nearly stuck to it.
It's only a mistake if you don't learn from it.

Check out the second hand shops. I bought mine several years ago from Absoe's in Brisbane. They have lots of second hand stuff from educational institutes

Cann't rember the price but it was reasonable and without measuring is approx 6 X 3
