Well given my post about glass drills seems to have been useful I thought I'd chuck this in.

I have recently been fitting insulation to the roof on my old house. There is no access inside to most of it and I was fitting sarking so the steel had to come off. Removing the nails was an absolute nightmare, so I bit the bullet and bought the hart nail puller from bunnings. $15.

A wonderful tool. It still took me a good 10 hours to get them all out but compared to using a claw hammer it was magic. Now it does NOT replace the claw, it complements it. There were several occasions when I had to get the claw under a part extracted nail as it gave a lot more leverage. The nail puller gets under heads the claw can't, and it bites into teh shank so even if you have no head at all it will pull. It's designed to be driven home hard with hammer blows and has a fork on the straight end for situations where you have limited space above the nail.

I cannot comment on how it compares to other brands or other style tools. I've not tried any. I can only say it was a great purchase for me and really helped getting this job done. I had a pry bar, which is somewhere safe in my shed, haven't seen it in years, but this tool definitely works better than a pry bar for pulling nails.
