Default New Year Project

Had dinner guests over last night with them they brought a repair project to tackle. I hope to prove my worth.

An original 150+ year old Hebradian Oak Spinning wheel looks a disaster but there is not much missing a lot of TLC required to bring it back to life.

Bit like you being sent away for a few days eh

John it will be a long slow WIP I'll see how it goes but a the Gentleman Woodworker who brought it over said "I told the lady you'd have it done by Wednesday"

That's quite a valuable piece there Ray. It warrants some careful research and thoughtful restoration to retain its value.

I will follow the WIP with interest.

WW to many its a piece of junk/firewood not in this household I'm afraid some quick googling last night brought up a couple of interesting links.

An identical wheel Spinning Fishwife: Name that wheel? (excuse me I'm having some home made Sang Cho Bow and left overs from last night)

Ok back, also this piece 3rd last wheel apparently a little newer. About Me

The wheel itself is original and brought out from Scotland by the owners mother/grandmother.

Personally I want to do a good repair rather than replace such as the tension adjustment handle/knob, the broken maiden tower. Realising that new may be better and quicker though.

I would like any in put you may have on the matter and your expert advise.

Nathan there could be two to view as Sue's eyes light up of course and "Can you make a copy????"

Will see what eventuates

Fletty, been doodling in the shed today. I must get motivated to finish the inside fit out . . . one day. The Yellow Peril talks to me constantly . . . "Why finish that flat work, when I can spin up a lovely bowl . . . " It can be very persuasive

I'm still to hook up power to the shed

Peddling that lathe will help you loose the extra pounds you put on with the chocolate stash while you were going there and driving home from Kiewa Pat.

Pat stay of Marfia Wars and you'll have the shed done by next weekend.
