Default A nice simple weekend project

Last week I finished my current position as a partner of a law firm. At present I am ‘between engagements’, as the acting profession puts it, so I thought I’d try to tidy up my home study.
One thing that has got out of control are my magazine collection, so rather than buying magazine holders I thought I’d use up some hardwood (spotted gum I think) and 3mm plywood and make some.

    Here’s the prototype.

The sides are ply with a hardwood edging glued on that sit in a 3mm x 3mm rebate cut into the front, back and base. Those three pieces are 10mm hardwood with d/t corners.

I reckon that these will do for me, with a coat or two of wipeon poly on the outside, so I’ll make 3 or 4 more and remove some clutter!

Not a bad project for a weekend.
    Cheers

    Very nice.
Great minds think alike My daughter is a florist and wanted a three compartment desktop box for holding floristry items. I put this together from ply I had lying around and coated with a 50/50 mix of BLO and Turps.

I’m afraid that’s quite a way down the list (even below weeding and lawn mowing)
