    Default Noise From Shed in Brisbane

    I am considering a move to suburban Brisbane from an outer Perth suburb and would like to know if there are any problems in building a large 8x4 metre shed in the back yard.

    Are there any special rules regarding noise eg Router, Table Saw & Thicknesser etc when used during the day?

    No probs on the noise, but I believe there are certain hours you must stick to. For e.g. between 7am and 7pm Mon-Fri & 7am-5pm Sat, do what you like, however Sunday I've been told (could be urban myth!) 10am-5pm you can only make noise for.

    Best to check out the local council and see what they say. Run it by the neighbours as well just to keep things positive with them.

    Michael, got to www.brisbane.qld.gov.au which is Bris City Council's website. The guidelines are on there:

    If noise can be heard at residential premises at the following times, the person making the noise may be issued with a fine.

    7pm to 7am Monday to Saturday No noise allowed

    7pm to 8am Sunday or public holiday No noise allowed
