adeben, give CartaTec a call and they will sort you out. The clamp is not on the website but they have them in store.

Most of us only need 2 or 4 pipe clamps for handling large pieces, and a lot of us don't make big pieces. Does that answer your question?

I do not see any economy in pipe clamps. Nowadays regular shash clamps or cramps if you prefer are a better option. Places like super cheap auto have shash clamps at under $30 and you dont have to go and scratch around for pipe.

Indeed they do and I have four of them to prove it.

However, the 1500mm ones, which in reality only clamp up to 1400mm, are as big as they seem to come, so if you want to clamp something bigger than that, pipe clamps are your only option.

I have 8 pipe clamps, the longest ons are 2.7m. They don't need them all the time but I do need them.

Thanks again folks. I need to clamp something 2 metres long, and will need to do it several times over the next few years. Pipe clamps seem the cheapest option, and the Irwin clamps could easily be repositioned for use on shorter lengths of pipe if that was appropriate.

One thing that no-one seems to have mentioned is that you can get pipe joining sleeves so if your pipe lengths have thread at both ends, you can quickly join several together to make a 'long' pipe clamp, then take them apart for convenient storage. Of course you can do something similar with Bessey "K" clamps too.

The 3/4 & 1/2 pipe lengths that Bunnings, Reece, et al sell are know as 'pipe nipples' - McJing are less than 1/2 the price of Bunnings, and not all Bunnings stock pipe nipples.

If you want to be really self sufficient, then go to someone like Coventry Fasteners or Blackwoods and get a die button for 3/4 water pipe - I'd be surprised if Reece or Plumber's Warehouse either didn't stock them or have them available to order. Ozmestore also sell pipe threading gear.

A good trick is to also get both ends of the pipe threaded. You can then use joiners to join multiple lengths of pipe to make one long clamp if you need.

I have 8 x 1.5m and 4 x 2.8m lengths of pipe, and 6 pipe clamps. I just move them around to the different bits of pipe as needed.

    Geoff,

Thanks for that, I paid for both end to be threaded by Blackwoods, then realised that i only needed one end threaded. Now 10 years later I know why I did it (Off to buy joiners tomorrow).

    Regards,

    James
