I bought a 6m pipe from Reece 2 months ago. It costed $95. I probably could find somewhere cheaper but I couldn't be bothered.
Don't buy those no name cheap clamps. They don't work that well. I have 2 of them and they are bloody useless.
I have a couple of Pony clamps and they are great. But you can't buy them locally.
I also like the new iRwin clamps. With this one, you don't need a threaded pipe and they are available at Carbatec.

My local Bunnings sells only up to 1m-1.3mm long. I can't remember how much but it will be around $25 - $30.

McJing Tools sells 1.2mt lengths for $15 each.
They also sell the clamps for $15.

All my pipe has come from hard rubbish collections and was able to borrow the die to cut the threads.
As said above some clamps do not need threads on the pipeTom

Last week I spent two days in the greater Geelong area trying to buy 2 x 2 metre lengths of 3/4 gal pipe with a thread on one end to accommodate some old pipe clamp fittings. Plumbing suppliers (Reece etc) had 6m lengths, but not threaded, and I could not locate a plumber or local engineering works who had the appropriate die. The Irwin Clamps that don't need the thread are looking good!
P.S. My son-in-law is a plumber, does not have the die, and says he hasn't used 3/4 gal pipe in the last 20 years.

Don't know about the Irwin but some of the cheaper ones had a reputation of slipping with new gal. pipe. Black pipe or older 'recycled' seems to work better.

I have the cheap 1/2 " type bought years ago from Kmart and they work well. Occasionally some start to slip and this is not the clamp's fault but the gal pipe. Replace the pipe and no problems.
BTW all my pipe comes from hard rubbish collections and I have the tools tro cut my own threads.

I've got 6 of the Irwin ones and they work brilliantly.
For pipe I go to the local metal and sheetwork supplier, a 6 metre length of "black" pipe to suit the irwins is about $40.00 the last time I bought some, about 8 months ago.
Just be aware that the irwin clamps take a particular diameter pipe.
Ross.

I've done a search, but I'm having trouble locating a store that can supply the Irwin Clamps pictured in a previous post. I'm prepared to buy on-line, or in person in Melbourne. Any advice re availability?

Thanks, Pat. According to the Irwin website, the clamps are made in two pipe sizes: half-inch and three-quarter inch. I want the latter. It's not clear to me what size Alltools are offering
Further, folks here have reported the clamps to be a good product. If that is so, what aren't they being more widely stocked?
