Suddenly there were two loud "Snaps". Smoke started pouring out of the power strip. I unplugged the strip and took it apart. The two, I can't remember what they are called, semi conductors across each side of the line were fried and smoking badly.
It is interesting to note that none of the other surge protection power strips went off. I did send the strip to Underwriter Laboratory for examination. They came back with something like 'It wouldn't have burned through.'
