when you have an earth pin.

The US version of the DeWalt DW745 table saw draws 15A through a 2-pin plug.

Sometimes the active is a different shape to the neutral so that the plug only works in one orientation.

    A good laugh! I never looked at where. . . .

BTW - I had a Harbor Freight surge protection power strip. It was a less than $10. I was in the shop and the power strip was plugged in but nothing plugged into it. Suddenly there were two loud "Snaps". Smoke started pouring out of the power strip. I unplugged the strip and took it apart. The two, I can't remember what they are called, semi conductors across each side of the line were fried and smoking badly.

It is interesting to note that none of the other surge protection power strips went off. I did send the strip to Underwriter Laboratory for examination. They came back with something like 'It wouldn't have burned through.'
