Powermatic PWBS 14CS Bandsaw (with riser)
Having a go at resawing (ripping in half) some old hardwood slabs about 200mm wide. The first thing was to ring Peacock's and order a 3/4" 3 TPI blade, as research tells me the wider the blade the better. Then thought I would have a go at a smaller slab and changed the 3/8 blade to a half inch which has me asking this question:
Using the Alex Snodgrass method for tuning a bandsaw (at every blade size change) I found that the 1/2" blade only just fits the bottom thrust bearing with an ants whisker clearance between the back of the bearing and the mounting block, so how does one fit a 3/4" blade?
The only thing that comes to mind is to ignore the part of Snodgrass's tutorial that stipulates having the gullet of the tooth in the center of the top wheel.
Any help would be appreciated as my first effort did not go well and going to finish that cut with handsaw today.

Hi Bushie, you should be able to adjust the thrust bearing in and out, at least you can on my Hafco cheapie.

Yes, ignore about the gullet in a certain place on the wheel. Just have the blade on the wheel. It will find its happy spot and then adjust the tracking to keep it tgere. Then set the thrust bearings to suit.

The only other thing that I can add is to use the thrust bearing to prevent the teeth from getting between the bearings.

you can adjust in and out, just can't adjust further back, have run out of room using the Snodgrass method.
riverbuilder,
this maybe only option. Shame though, as the is no drift with Snodgrass method.
Unless I'm missing something.

if you have drift, increase the tension.
