    Default The Project Box

This is a simple enough project that I’ve made for assembly by my ‘oldies’ group at a nursing home. As you can see, it’s together at the moment but when I take it in, they dismantle it to see how it comes apart and will then go back together again. They may be old but they’re not without knowledge. Anyway, everything is marked alpha-numerically on the inside of the joints.

The box is for whatever projects they might be involved in, carrying materials to where needed as well as providing a sturdy seat on arrival. The 28mm rod was a quick way of providing a handle. A fixed handle was out of the question because it prevented it going in the storage cupboard. It's one of three we'll make.

Because it’s got potential to get wet and it’s made from 16mm MDF, my group will prime, undercoat, and then apply two top coats of enamel to give it a sporting chance of survival.

Measurements (and I won’t bother about those for individual pieces, they’re easy enough to work out) are 450 L, 350 W and 350 H, plus 60mm for the castors.

A great job you have done for them and looks like it is finished off very well. Good to allow them to use up the wealth of knowledge they have developed over their lifetime even if it might be starting to decline now for some.
Keep up your very important volunteer work.
