Proxxon Machines.
Just wondering if anyone has experience with any of Proxxon range of miniature machinery. At the moment I am considering one of their Table saws. Any info and comments will be much appreciated. Brian.

I'd be interested in this too - they seem to have some nice little metalwork lathes

Have a look at this guy. SIMPLEX PRAIRIE TANK - PART #98 - YouTube He uses a Proxxon at 2:13. While he does not have either a table saw or Proxxon lathe, he does rave on about the Proxxon tools he has. Unfortunately he has over 600 videos so I could not tell you which ones to watch to see a particular tool.

A good source of advice for small table saws is the model ship building community and from memory the saw of choice is an American machine. This lady seems to have a good reputation in the model world.

I have a proxxon disc sander and Its a very good machine. I also have a couple small hand held grinders which are similar to the Dremel but better. All very good tools but to be honest if I was buying a small table saw I think I would pay the extra and buy the American made Byrnes Model Machines - If you look at the guys building small model boats it seems there go to brand.

Proxxon tools.
Hi, Thanks to all who have replied I now have some food for thought.
Steve and Chris I did watch the video and it seems to be a very good machine but it is out of my budget range and is maybe more capable than I actually need. The Proxxon KS 230 will cut up to 8mm thick which is plenty for my current needs. I will have a look at one next week and will post again after I have tried it out. Thanks again Brian.

Hello, I have the Proxxon FET table saw and the MP400 shaper (mini router table). Have had them both 11-12 years now and I can say they are very reliable.
Alas the FET model is now very expensive - you can get a decent full size table saw for the money they are asking these days. I think I paid around $360 back then... and to be frank they are not worth $825 ! Proxxon Table Saw FET The FET will cut close to 30mm thick timber with ease.
The cutters (mini router bits) on the MP400 are limited in size and type but do the job well; again intended for the model making market.
Cost aside they are very reliable and work well for their intended purpose - model making.
So I would recommend them as tools, but I think the prices these days are way over the top.
Cheers
Mal

A small note, an Instagram I follow is Art By Kemal and he uses the proxxon tablesaw to great effect.
We had a brief chat once and he mentioned his studio is very small and this little saw is quite the workhorse.

This is the solid little saw in the video...
Byrnes Model Machines - Thickness Sander
It looks quite meaty.
At one stage I was thinking of making my own with some bits off AliExpress.... Such as a cheap router and one of these style blade/bearing kits....

Hi Guys, I said previously that I would report back once I had bought and tried out the Proxxon table saw. Well I after much pondering settled no the FET model saw. The dealer had a unit of his own the customers could try before buying and I was surprised at its capabilities. I have had my own now for a couple of weeks and am very happy with my purchase. It makes excellent clean smooth cuts so no follow up hand sanding. I tried cutting mitres on 18mm Myrtle stock and produced excellent both with finish and accuracy. Being a very quiet machine means I can work into the evening without annoying the neighbours. The only downside is that I am still feeling the pain of shelling out $799.00. Cheers Brian.
