Question repairing bottom of chair leg

A friend has asked me to repair a very slightly rotten leg on one of his wooden dining chairs. He had the chair stored under his house and one of the legs must have been touching the soil. The leg needs extending by no more than 1.5 to 2mm. Can anyone suggest what would be the best product to use? It would need to be able to adhere to the existing timber as well as being hard enough to take the load of someone sitting on the chair. Ideally, I would also like to be able to match the colour of the chair leg. Thank you.

If it is only about 2mm, I would be inclined to trim the other three legs to match rather than trying to extend that one. It would be much safer and 2mm lower will hardly be noticed.

Thanks for your suggestion. That is what I originally suggested to my friend but he laughed thinking I was joking. Before trimming the other legs I will need to get the go ahead.

Ask your friend how much he is prepared to pay for this repair. May give you some leverage for your 'cut to new length' method.

If you haven't shortened the leg already, then using something like http://boatcraft.com.au/informationpages/wotrot.htm would be quite straight forward. You can still do it even it you have shorten one of the legs, it is just more messy.
