Default Any rivals to CutlistPlus software

I have used CutlistPLus for about eight years to produce cuttings lists for my hobby projects. Cutlist is a capable program and handles sheets and dimensioned timber stock. But it has a weakness that is beginning to annoy me.

I've just googled for similar software, but most are dedicated to 2D sheet material; ie, no thickness dimension of the parts is needed. I wonder if anyone in this forum has experience with other software.

I don't know if this product will even do what you want, so I'll leave it up to you to investigate further.

I have used their free version off and on for a number of years and found it very useful.
    Cheers.

    Hi Vernonv,
Thanks for that info, but unfortunately MaxCut v2 (the latest version) does not handle timber boards, only sheet material. And while I could enter sheets with timber board dimensions, I would have to fudge other aspects as well.

An old thread but here are my experiences.

I have tried Cutlist fx and liked it but I baulked at doing a credit card payment online (once bitten forever shy) once my trial ran out, wish they would offer a Paypal option.

I tried the Cut List plugin for Sketchup (only works with v8) it worked but as far as I could tell you can't specify custom stock dimensions, so no good for me.

I tried Maxcut v2 it's free and more importantly does what I need it to.

MaxCut specifies sheet material but as you can specify width, length, thickness and grain direction I can't see any problem using it for dimensioned stock and I am doing just that.

Anyway so far at least it gets a big thumbs up from me. There is apparently a "Professional Edition" underdevelopment which will allow costings etc and if it's not too expensive i'll buy that when/if it comes.
