Default ROS and 120 grit paper comparison

Since there are some on the forum who love to test the performance of various papers in a variety of situations, I thought to do my bit for science!

I stand on concrete most of the day. The backs of my heels get quite dry and thick.

Testing of 120 grit in Rhynogrip, Jost and Festool papers I can confirm that the far-cheaper Rhynogrip does a fantastic Quick Job of sanding the bottoms and backs of my heels, but the Jost gives a far smoother result, but takes far longer.

The ROS is a nice tool to use for the job. Festool especially with its DUST CONTROL

    Nice and smooth....

My wife thinks I'm a profound grot

If I might offer an observation - this is really no different than the pedigrinders one sees on TV, the chemist or the local "foot spas" at shopping centres....

    foot.jpg large-foot-scrub-callus-remover-pedicure.jpg

But in a far more MANLY way!!!!

So do I, but I wear shoes and socks so my feet are fine

Which would indicate to me that either Ryhnogrip is coarser than the grit number, Jost is finer than the grit number, or the Rhynogrip abrasive is just objectively better.

I think I will pass this post onto Prosthetic's which helped Rolf Harris perform "Jake the Peg" as they made the extra leg. They will then be able to test the papers on the heels and backs of foots to see which one does a better job.
PS They will not need me to help as they have all the hands they want.

    Default Talk about click-bait...

I believe that I have been sucked into reading this thread on false pretences!

However, on the subject of grit particle size accuracy. Most or many European manufactured abrasives are prefixed with a "P" like the Jöst P120 or Klingspor P180 etc. I forget the detail, but the P is an industry standard that means the designated grit falls into the correct range of particle size (e.g. ±5%) and does not have "rogue grits" in there (the odd particle of 180 grit on a 240 grit disc).

Dunno where Rhynogrot comes from, but if it doesn't have a P then it may not be an accurate 120 grit.

Rhynogrip is by Indasa (out of Portugal I think). They do use the P grading system and their stuff is really good, we use their Rhynodry Redline sheets at work
