who would come to the sale?
As the title suggests I am after your option
I am trying to move to Goulburn NSW. I hired a truck with a lift tailgate and took all the machinery to a lock up storage facility there. The problem will be how long to sell the house in Cooma and then buy one at Goulburn. I am 75ys old and when and if I finally set up a workshop will I still want one. I don't think so
So if I advertise the machinery for sale?, is Goulburn too far out of the way to pick it up from. Or should I move them to Sydney bearing in mind this is a big job for me.
The heaviest is a TSC-10HB at 190kg.
thanks

Les, if I were you I wouldn't be too hasty with selling your equipment In fact I probably would have waited with shifting it from Cooma in to storage until you had a contract on your house in Cooma.
Houses in country towns can take a while to sell, during that time you will be deprived of the use of your equipment as well as paying for storage.

I agree with what Big Shed has said, however since the equipment is alreay in Goulburn...
It would probably sell for more money in Sydney as there are more potential buyers and people don't have to factor in removal costs. You could get lucky with local buyers though. On the other hand it will cost you money to get the equipment to Sydney. I'd probably leave it where it is on balance. Goulburn isn't that far...
Cheers,
Dave

Goulburn is only 2 hours away for me, I did drive to Glenbrook for a Bandsaw ( 1 1/2hrs) . . . so if they are priced to sell people do travel.

You are right Big Shed but my wife died of ovarian cancer 9 months ago and I had to take her to various hospitals for 6 months before that trying to save her. So it is a while since I have made anything. She was always in the workshop sweeping up and having coffee and polishing the boxes etc. so I wouldn't be happy in there. I have a full size billiard table in a special built room and we played every night I don't go in that room either. The estate agent said to move as much as possible out of the house which I did.
So selling my gear and other stuff in the storage I could stop paying $40.00 a week
If you are interested the house is listed on All Homes 36 Tulong Ave

Out of the warmth of Cooma into the coldest hole I know Goulburn, your a brave man Les, Its a lovely place honest.
It will be closer to a wider sale market Les ACT, Sydney and your surrounding districts, even a quick hop down the back road to Bathurst and the south coast.
I know a big shed was up for auction in Goulburn Les I think it used to be the wool classing centre would that do

Goulburn is not too far — about 50mins from Canberra and less than 2 hours from Sydney.
the question for me will be, do you have anything I want?
as to movbing the heavy stuff, maybe you could offer shipment to a tranship point in Campbelltownregards from Alberta, Canada

Hi Les
Sorry to hear about your loss, the last year must have been hard on you and your family.
Goulburn is a pleasant drive from Sydney and the south coast so there shouldnt be an issue there.
You should come to Nowra to settle as we always welcome woodies down here.
Best wishes for your future

Les, sorry for your loss. As for your question, I think people would travel to Goulburn. Its an easy drive from Sydney, Canberra or Wagga and there are woodies on these forums in all those areas (as well as in between).
CorbsIt's only a mistake if you don't learn from it.

I would travel from Sydney to Goulburn
Les,
First of all, I read your story with considerable sadness. It must be heart breaking to lose a life long partner in such a way. Are you sure that after a period of time you may not want to return to your shed of tools? Creating something is very therapeutic. If you sell your tools you may be more isolated than previously. Worth consideration.
If you are certain you want to sell your gear I would be interested, but I would need to be sure when I got there the gear was still available. Not sure how you will manage that, but it would be a long trip for no reward.
I wish you the best Les,
Anthony

Thanks for your reply's and well wishes.
The move to Goulburn is two pronged it gets me closer to a daughter and my main activity now is Clay Target Shooting which I do on a weekly basis and there are more shooting grounds closer by than Cooma.
I have been involved of making things out of timber all my life, so maybe its time to move on.

Les, I am so sorry to hear about your sad loss. I would certainly come to Goulburn for your sale. I am trying to set up a workshop in Oberon which isn't far down the back road.
