I'd prefer to reveal the pictures in the course of describing a piece of furniture or a process, but I think most people would know how to navigate to the folders with all the photos if they desired to view them all together. It's probably something to do with the Irish storyteller in me.

You can't possibly imagine the tale surrounding the picture of the church pew. It's one of my favourites.

I'm sitting here, all ears waiting for this one... I really enjoy these threads even though I know I have zero chance of ever getting to this level

still, don't take too long posting it. I'm on my employers time

    Hi Woodwould

Please tell me that you didn't actually do all that intaglio carving in the 38.25 hours as well? That really would crush my soul!

Lovely piece, anyway, I'll bet the client was happy when she picked it up.

I've got quite a bit to do this morning, but if I have a chance later on, I'll tell the story - I also need to find another relevant photo. I may have slightly over emphasized the magnitude of the tale. It's probably only of relative interest to some, though it still makes me smile when I recall it.

Don't sell the thumbnails short. They allow the page to load faster via juice cans and string (dialup), and encourage viewing. Within the text provides a better flow of information and overview, and viewers can boink the thumbnails to enlarge according to their desire for detail.

    Bodaciuos work, BTW.

I've given up with the whole images thing. I tried posting another thread earlier with pictures uploaded from my computer rather than Photobucket, but the forum's image protocols meant the photos would either be too degraded or make it impossible to see any detail.

Joe, I see you comment in all of my threads about image size etc., but I'm following forum rules and guidelines and, while I'm sorry some members with dial-up accounts may be slightly disadvantaged when viewing my threads, there's not much I can do unless an administrator objects, or modifies the maximum allowable picture size. The current permissible sizes are, by any standard, miniscule to say the least. The time taken to load the page may be slower, but the total time taken to read the thread and view all images will be no different.

As I said before, I agree with you that if your images are reduced too much they lose all their detail and it becomes worthless.

But I like most other forumites enjoy seeing your work..... so I have been experimenting with a free image editor Paint.net and I will post a picture here the way joe wants it done for people with string communications......

Have a look Woodwould and see what you think, surely we must be able to get this right

    Default Question for Joe Griener

Joe, does it make any difference to your speed whether the 97Kbyte image is posted as a link or as a picture. I haven't got dial up on this computer so I am not sure.... (I suspect that the page with the thumbnail link will load a bit faster)

    Let us know

By the way, your high speed internet is way faster in the US than it is in Australia.
