    Default New SCMS Bench

LOML got an upgrade in desk for her sewing room thanks to NZ_carver so I rescued her old roadside pick up as an SCMS bench.

It needs a few improvements like a dust catcher at the rear and mounting so it does not move. Its on wheels so easy to move but need to find away to lock the wheels when in use or change them completely.

That's not a bad idea. That should contain the dust a bit better than when the SCMS sits in the open.

    A good plot!

3mm ply and a bit of 100mm poly pipe at the back . . .

What a great bit of recycling! You will probably need to brace the back so it does not wobble. As Pat suggest some board behind the saw will start to restrict the dust and is a good place for dust extraction.
Depending on how often or how far you are moving it some decent wheels with brakes on at least two. You may need to fit a solid base for decent wheels. If you find that you are not moving it, adjustable feet.
    Hope it works out well.

All in good time gents and all planned for ASAP the inner top shelv had to be removed and is sitting on top it will be used for extra bracing. wheels I have already just need to make sturdier base to attach. back will be something different not ply. but will do exactly what I plan.

    Not bad Wheelin'

You might want to think about some hinged flaps for each side for support

While having y morning cuppa sitting pondering what I will do with above cabinet this morning.

I will fully enclose the bottom at the rear 12mm mdf (in stock) that will help stiffen the base up. Put a 19mm mdf piece on top of the table are extended out to match the front of the sides. This so I can bring forward the SCMS to allow it to swing to 45deg and it won't hit either side of the front (especially motor side). 1/2 moon shape cut out at rear so slides at rear can swing 45 deg either way. Brace the bottom of that top section with the old shelf. 12mm MDF for the top remainder with a calico section where the ram rods will run and swing.

I wonder if I can score a thicky to store under in the cupboard area.
