    Default Hiya Ruffly

Do what I do, and take over the spare bedroom!

I'd work in the shed (honest) but there's no power out there, and, since there's only me, I use the third bedroom. Bonus is, its nice and warm in the winter. Drawbacks? I can't make anything too big or too messy.

Doughboy - he knows he's in trouble and that it could be me chasing him round the kitchen .. he's out there cooking dinner for me again

read this - all will be explained - I hope

Andrea - a great idea, except I've taken over that room as my leatherwork room - no guys, leather covers for writing notebooks - you remember that pen and paper stuff Yeah, big and messy would definitely be out but you're nice and warm and dry - that's a huge plus

    cheers

    Sorry Wendy

Nothing stops because of rain, not even spraying lacquer. I just put on the halogen floods & wait for 10 mins for the atmosphere to dehumidify.
    Cheers

Major, now that's the best bit of news I've had today Thanks!

I was wondering if the high humidity would make it difficult to get good joints happening that wouldn't loosen up when it dries out.

Carving?? I have to try turning before I can get to carving and whittling and I haven't even mastered dovetails or mortise and tenon joints yet !!!! Still, any woodwork is better than no woodwork

*LMAO* Ruffly I thought you were going to have a photo of Melbourne because it is always wet and miserable there. You know why the Penguins live in Antarctica? It's because the weather is better than Melbourne.

I'll get you a pattern for my you beaut Satin Hot Chick Gown so that you can have something that suits the weather up there.

I got an introductory set of carving chisels, and 2 knives for chip carving for Xmas - you should give it a go!

Course I have NO idea what I'm doing, but that's pretty much true for all my woodworking.

Cruising in the hotrod in your Satin Screamer Gown for cold weather that's one to stop traffic

It will really warm the place up

    G'day Ruffly,

HWMNBO makes hot rod engines in that tiny garden shed as in pic 1?

Poor bloke, he needs a bigger shed.
I make things, I just take a long time.

HWMNBO's hot rod in the rain If the sun goes behind a cloud, it's - "it's gonna rain, gotta put the car away" It doesn't need rain to go spinning either

    Gudday Waldo

This is where the problem lies - his shed is 20 million times larger than mine and he won't share

Sorry about the rain Wendy, but the place does need it (not many places in Aus that doesn't these days). Funny, here we are on level 4 restrictions but our dam is full, it is because Brisbane is short.

As you kmow I do have a shed, but there isn't enough room for those large projects like my TV unit. I have my stands set up outside, but I can't do anything if there is any chance of rain (it stains the timber), and they remain under tarps. Although not heavy rain, I reckon this year has had the most "drissle" and threatening days.

So to answer your question, I do wood turning when it rains. Lately mainly pens but I have those large pepper grinders and a large vase on the go. I also do a lot of green turning, but then bury them in the sawdust for finishing another rainy day.
