Default To Sikkens or not to Sikkens? Treatment for my cedar windows

    Hi Everyone
I have a number of timber windows at home, approx 11 years old. They were originally treated with Sikkens Cetol & Filter 7. I have re-done them a few times, but not as often as I should have.

I am getting motivated to do them when the weather cools down a bit and wondered if there is a better/cheaper product available now.

I only ask this as we have a couple of timber seats in front of work that the guys have coated with Cabots deck stain and they look great for the longest time. Makes me wonder if I should start using this on my windows.

    Your thoughts?

    Ash

I've had two lots of WR Cedar windows painted with Sikkens and found it's good for about a year. Next time I'll be using a good quality clear decking finish. You're on the right track, Ash.

    Hi Mick

Any thoughts on what product you would use?

No idea, Ash. Your experience with Cabot's is the best recommendation I have so far. However I wouldn't buy a stain. I suspect most decking finishes have pretty good UV resistance and durability. They can't be much worse than Sikkens.
