silky oak tree
I have a silky oak tree in my backyard that is on the fence line. It is right near the neighbours house. I would like to know what it would be worth. Its about 600mm in diameter. the main trunk is easily 7 meters high. It looks like it is good condition, with no cracks or splits.
Any ideas?

i have coverd this in a previous thread.
the log is worth between $80 - $150 per log cube deliverd to the mill.
silky oak is quite a common tree but the one you have is a fair size. if the log is good and clean and free from pipe id offer you $90 a cube.
so if you cut it down, limb it, load it, and drop it off at my place ill give you $990 for it max but you would be lucky to get that.

As Carl said, I think you'll find that the value of the timber is negligible compared to the cost of felling it, moving the sawlogs and dealing with all the trash. See here for a bit of an explanation.
