    Hi,
As an extension of the Carbatec email that pointed them to our unhappiness.
I sent one to Germany pointing them to this thread about our unhappiness to the current batches of silverglide. They have stated they will back to us. I informed them that the "made in germany" is crossed out with a black marker.

Below is the answer I got from them (translated by the secretary).

We have received your mail and would like for this information ever say thank you.
We are surprised at the amount of critical voices in the forum and this is very unfortunate that there are users in Australia, which with our product are not satisfied. Silbergleit for more than 50 years in the international market and still enjoys great popularity. In all these years - since 2000, we own the brand - we have provided no negative experiences and correct application - learn from the user.
About the causes we cannot currently make any statements, but we are with our customers in Australia get in touch and ask for clarification.
As soon as we get newer knowledge, we will contact you again.

    Sincerely

    Mathias Kemmer

Not much of an answer really. No reflection intended on the translator, but maybe it has been translated literally rather than colloquially?

What I think he is saying is
"but we are with our customers in Australia get in touch and ask for clarification."
we are in contact with our customer in AUS (Importer) to find out whats going on.

"As soon as we get newer knowledge, we will contact you again."
I'm hoping will mean they will tell me whats going on when they find out.

Camellia oil1 I can't find it in any quatities except Carbies.
Was watching a cooking show on tele and they said to use it for cooking but coles/safeway/aldi/healthfood shops/asian grocers, No-body had it.
And I tried maybe 20 stores.

    Try Googling for Camellia oil.
There were too many to bother with posting links.

Rather unsurprisingly, the chinese stuff looks way cheaper than the japanese stuff.
Some places looked pretty cheap. This one has 100ml for $8.80
100 ml Camellia Oil - New Directions Australia

Anyway if _fly_ was watching Masterchef, it won't be long before Coles is pushing it.

The show was good chef/bad chef. The good chef recommended it.

1 in aus a perfume manufacturer, but they were expensive for a little bit. (your link I think)
If its a cooking oil like sesame oil (you only use a bit) then it can't cost 9 bucks for 100ml.

Like the Japanese Camelia Oil? Love Everten! Award winning service, lowest prices and super fast delivery Australia wide Everten have it but are out of stock (cooking stuff site).

Sydney Essential Oil Co. this one gives you 500ml for 17 bucks , But they have a min order value of 220 bucks.

Thats as far as I got.

Coles used to carry Camelia Oil in 500ml bottles in the specialty items section of the super markets. It was sold as a speciailty tea drink I think.

There is an old thread on here somewhere about trial use. I think apricotripper might have been involved. I bought a bottle but only used it to wipe down some chisels at the time. I don't think it would give the same dry lubricant effect as silverglide.

I'm still using my tin of Jonstone pastewax on my machines, but you can't buy that anymore either.

    edit: Found the thread https://www.woodworkforums.com/f152/camellia-oil-62257/
