Problem solved with wood work
Problem: In our household we enjoy bread of the non sliced variety cut in various thicknesses depending on whether the bread is to be used for toast or a sambo....however no one bar myself seems to be able to cut a slice of bread straight , which means that when I go back for another slice I end up a bit too thick at one end and too thin tha other
Solution:
Knock up one of these ones

One of the more usefull things I have made recently...I knew all these tools would come in handy for something
Dont know what to call it though maybe something like
the "Variable Loaf Slicer" or the "VLS 2000" for short.
cheers

That is a corker!! Would you be annoyed if I copied it (for personal use, naturally!)
We have a similar jiggie in our kitchen for slicing bagels, and it is a permanat fixture on the bench. This could be a great companion!Young kids cancels shed time

Looks good BD! All you have to do now is bake your own bread.
I bake my own bread and I use an electric knife for cutting, I find it gives me a straighter cut. A jig like like that would make it even easier.
You don't have a patent yet I hope? Good, in that case I can copy it?
Thanks for sharing.

Lovely.
Would my left handed knife work in it?
Good little unit.Don't pass them by! Be daring and caring!
Dampen their misery....sit with them and talk a little.
Buy them something to eat and a tram fare to a local mission.

Nice work on the bread cutter. If you wanted to take it to the next level you could probably modify Rockers mortising jig for very accurate and repeatable bread thickness
It's only a mistake if you don't learn from it.

Seriously you should call the ABC television program New Inventors. I think this is one of the best ideas since sliced bread!

I remember reading about Frank Klausz (for those who don't know, he is an American-Hungarian woodworker) who cuts his bagels (or was it bread?) on the bandsaw.
I reckon you would want a clean blade!

Great idea
I made a simple one from timber many years ago but just for one thickness ... still gets used daily and is very popular.
I like you idea but unless there is a desire to cut bread at different thicknesses (and there doesn't seen to be at the moment) then it goes on the back burner
still love it thouRamps
