    Default Special router bits

    Hello every one.

    I am looking at having a go at making my own wooden railway track. I was wondering if any one has seen the router bits in the picture below. These are Whiteside bits from america. But I havent been able to find any here in Australia. Any idea's? I know of other ways to make the track but thought this might be easyer.

    Have you tried Professional Woodworkers Supplies, they sell Whitside bits.

    They seem to have become quite coy about their prices though, I wonder why there are no prices on their site any more?

    Price is right there on the page.. At least for me
    $260.00 for the train making set. I guess you would be wanting to make a bit of track to invest that much $$

    I was wondering where their prices went.

    I have been checkinh their site for the Incra 1000SE and couldn't see a price!

    Checked other Incra stuff, no prices, in fact no prices for anything!

    When you said that the prices were there for you, I thought "Firefox" and opened the site with IE7, hey presto I can see prices.

    Funny thing is I have been using Firefox for about 6 months now and never a problem, even with the Professional Woodworker Supplies site.

    They must have changed something?

    Mcjing do have them for $99 a set. have a look here at the bottom of the page. Slightly better than the $260 from PWS.

    I have not bought any myself but did help a friend set up all the jigs after he had purchased some from the Woodwork Show in Brisbane. There is a website that goes through the jigs etc Jigs for Making Wooden Train Track and I also have a pdf file that I got from woodcraft in the US - this link for instructions.

    The bits from Mcjing are really good for the price and we found that so long as you take your time and use reasonable quality timber you won't have any problems. We did use radiata pine from bunnies and did not even bother finishing it. Just a quick sand and then gave it to the mates kids to play with.

    Wife purchased the ones from Mcjing at last years WWW show, havent used them yet (Still to uncover my router table). They looked good, should get out there and give them a try...
    I may not have gone where I intended to go, but I think I have ended up where I needed to be.

    Thanks to every one that replyed.

    I will have to get onto Mcjing about the bits and give them a go. My two boys wood love to have some additions to there Thomas train set so I will will have to get cracking and make some track and trains for them.

    Here's something else to consider.

    Ikea sell wooden train sets and rails etc that fit the Thomas the tank engine ones too (I believe).

    I'm a big Firefox user (about 3yrs now) and yes there is the very occasional glitch with web pages (prob less than with IE though) so I always let the webmaster know if there is a prob with their website with FF. Anyway that aside I can see the prices in FF at the PWS website ... have you got the latest version (2.0.0.5).


    However when looking at the McJing site I couldn't find the set as the link only showed the wheel cutter and the hinge boring bit so no price either. Has someone made an enquiry to find they couldn't get hold of them at this price?? and hence removed them from the site?
