Thread: Strap for Steam Bending

Hi Roy, we started from one end, and the strap adjuster was at the other end.
Definitely had a good time, including a BBQ and a ride in the owner's (then) 100 year old electric car. He himself must now be close to 100, and was still travelling well when I saw him not too long ago. I'll try to find out details of the strap material.

Got the following info back...
"It was spring steel and I think it is Veritas. Michael Fortune suggested the steel straps used to bundle materials, because it can take high tensile stress (ie, it is spring steel).
I found it helped if the width of the steel was at least as wide as the timber being bent.
Dad had his 99th birthday last week and is well."

Thanks again Alex for taking the time.Yes agree from what I have seen about the width being the same as the timber.
Hopefully this will be coming together in the next few weeks.And some photos.
Go your dad 99 is incredible.
