Gulp
Btw I just sourced a full set of round keyboard keycaps with chrome outer rings. They're designed to fit onto CherryMX key stalks if that means anything to you. Removed all rings jade night and dropped them at my platers for copper plating. Will be a fun project, transforming a KB into a reasonable facsimile of a steampunk typewriter.Steve

Hey Steve, yeah I know what you speak of.
I've seen some good ones done.
Sounds like fun project.
Wood be good to see some pics when you get around to it.

Just got my chromed plastic key "rings" back from my plater. They're now copper plated. Next I'll age them down

Happy new year - I haven't been doing anything on my office project for the past couple of weeks ... have a couple of jobs that are taking up my time and a long-term project that I really wanted to finish. Long story but Montblanc made a pen to commemorate the life of mahatma Gandhi and I have watched with interest, the controversy it created ...
Anyway the pen was pulled from sale due to the outcry from his adherants, mainly because it had a precious stone in it and 23 yards of gold wire, intended to emulate the homespun thread he spun from which he made his clothing - the man basically forswore all personal wealth so people felt this pen was an affront to his principles ...
So, an idea emerged in my mind - make a replica of the pen ... at home ... from my shed ... so I did
I am now completing the box and outer case. Of course, the pen has no precious stone or gold but it was fun to research, source and understand how these things go together. FULL DISCLOSURE: The pen was, for the most part made up from bits and pieces of other pens, then modified. I sourced several types of wire, eventually settling on some stuff used for making jewellery ... it was a total pain in the ar5e (far too much spring) but worked out eventually. I have several garnets for the stone insert on their way to me now ... the original isn't garnet but the pen is homespun so who cares?
EDIT: Forgot to mention, the original now sells for over $50,000 ... mine was less
The original (obviously, mine is a rollerball .... I have an FP insert as well, but probably won't use it)
My humble effort
Steve

Very nice. Pretty close to the original.
I will be interested to see the box too.
Do you have a thread.
Thanks for sharing.
