Default Suggestions on how to cut timber long ways

    Bench Top Timber.jpgBench Timber 2.JPG
Wondering if anyone has had success cutting timer long ways with a circular saw, I have an 8 inch one and a couple of hard wood saws.
The pieces are about 60mm wide and I'd like to cut each length to make 2 x 30mm lengths.
I've asked at our one and only cabinet makers and they arent interested in helping and the next closest one being 300 klms away no thanks.
Has anyone ever made a brace of somekind that would allow the use of a circular saw.
Not worried about the cuts being perfect, have a decnt electric planer that will clean them up.
Maybe a U type cradle made from 3 pieces of timber to hold the 3 lengths but for that I'd need straight edges and I'm only going to have 4, I want to leave the outter edges as is.
Second thought might be able to have a top cover with a slot cut in the top to give me aflat surface for the circular saw to run along.

The timber is White Ash or Sarsaparilla tree timber that my dad milled from a tree back in 71.

Any other suggestions without buying an expensive saw bench.

Firstly, make sure the blade is a rip blade, not a cross cut, ie. less teeth as it cleans the waste out easier. have you lost the slide in guide from your circular saw? every one comes with one. . You will need a flat surface with the boards raised slightly so as not to cut into whats underneath, then lay 2 boards next to eachother and use a straightedge of some kind to run the saw along, either that or use your eyes to follow a pencil line drawn in the centre of the board freehand style. or see if there's a local mens shed with a table saw
