Sun coloured timber
I am making a cabinet out of sugar gum. It has come on well but due to ill health I haven't been able to get back to it to complete it and put a finish on it.
Sugar gum darkens when it gets to light - just a little but enough to cause concern. I has given it a final sand so it would be difficult to do it again because of the size and shape.
Has anyone used a bleach or something similar?
Any recommendations?

Just about any liquid treatment, including bleach, will raise the grain somewhat, so you'd need to re-sand. And you'll probably have the devil's own time trying to even the bleach anyway. I'd suggest putting it back in the sun for a while in different positions to even out the darkening, and trying to like the slightly darker appearance. BTDT.

Sugar gum
Lovely timber. As the others have said all timber will darken somewhat when exposed to light and/or when finished. You will just have to accept this fact.
