If he is in his eighties then it might be time to retire, mind you he's not as bad as a cafe owner I knew back in the UK (in Addiscombe) he used to close for lunch

Is that in Surry or Kent? I used to burn through Addiscome on my bike on the way to work in Beckenham, I think.

Yeah - I think I used to shop at a HI Fi shop on Lower Addiscombe - I was living on Croydon at the time. Long way from Exeter, Tas anyway.

There is now a Carbatec store in Launceston where the old Machine International used to be. I was in there the other day and got some stuff. The owner said he intends to carry in stock most of the catalogue, (he already has an extensive range). The new owner (he also had Howard Saws at Glen Du) moved his operation to the premises as well.

Fellas
I've ordered smaller items from MIK in Adelaide (before Sydney opened). Good service and freight not too bad - they have the occasional 15% off sale which makes things fun - not sure how much it would cost to freight say a bandsaw
The Carbatec site http://www.carbatec.com.au/store/ tells of the new Launceston shop. Also mentioned in Australian Woodworker
