It's amazing to me how cheap some of the chrome plated brass bathroom ware out of China is these days. There's certainly no reason to buy chrome plated zinc let alone chrome plated steel! Next time take a magnet.

I used to be in the same boat. I hated the layout and the lines... but my coles shopping was starting to get out of control so i gave it a decent go... you get the hang of it after a while.
Trolleys - don't use an aldi one... i go to a shopping mall that has aldi and woolies... i just pluck a woolies trolley from the carpark (or from woolies as i walk past) and use that in aldi... saves me having to walk back to the shop to get my money back.
Shopping Bags - I bought the green bags and just use them (when i remember to bring them). Better for the environment
Long Lines & No Self Serve - thats how they keep prices low... so as much as it sucks, I prefer waiting an extra 5 minutes compared to paying an extra $70
Racing the guy at the checkout - don't pack your bags at the checkout. Just put everything straight in your trolley and use the bench behind the checkout to pack your trolley (that's why its there). If everyone does that, the lines clear up pretty quick. Plus i get a kind of sick pleasure in keeping pace and sometimes beating the checkout person... it gets more competitive than my Saturday park cricket matches!
Equal Opportunity - There are women that work there, i think its more male dominated though because they also have to push heavy pallets around the store, they don't stay at the register all day
While the quality of some of their "Special Buys" aren't that great, they do have some good stuff from time to time. The wife an I love their Crofton kitchenware and their cleaning products are on par with brand names (for significantly less money). Plus, the quality of their meat is phenomenal compared to Coles/Woolies and usually the same price or cheaper.

I thought this matter was settled, but today I was at last contacted by an Aldi "after sales service" rep. When I explained that I'd already returned the item and received a refund, she told me that they'd been very busy, criticised me for "threatening them on Facebook", and told me that I can't expect what I want straight away. (I wouldn't call a week & a half straight away, and I do think I can expect at least an acknowledgement within 24 hours. I didn't threaten anyone on facebook, but I did, on my third message to them, advise that I was about to return the item to the store, and that if there were any problems I would contact the Dept. of Fair Trading.
When I tried to explain this to her, she hung up. I can only assume that she was acting in accord with Aldi's policies. I will not go there again, and would caution anyone against doing so.

Considering that most outbound call centres will record calls "For training and coaching purposes" (yeah, sure)... I wonder if Aldi management might be interested in retrieving the conversation for staff training and coaching purposes... I know I would as a manager.
All you should have to do is provide them the date and time of the call, and the number that they would have dialled to reach you. Any self-respecting call recording system will instantly shout "Bingo" given that information.
I would suggest, if you could be troubled, that a written letter, addressed to the Client Relations Manager could be interesting:

As a customer, being criticised and hung up on isn't something one should be expected to accept as good practice.
I do not blame you for refusing to do business with them again given your experience

I know how AlexS feels , he's just had crap service and wha sounds like an insulting phone call and would rather move on and not strain the tea leaves on this matter.
However, I have to keep reminding myself that if none of us complain nothing will change

Nice thought but to be totally honest I don't think ALDI management give a rat's about anything their "customer service" (sic) people say or do or what the odd offended customer feels. Their whole business model seems to be based on a prescriptive narrative that says "this is how it is, like it or shop elsewhere". Sounds like eBay, doesn't it?
As Dibbers has said above "... you get the hang of it after a while." If the lowest price is your number one criteria when shopping then there's no question, ALDI is your go-to place.

The Department of fair trading is not a threat it is in fact our right as a customer to approach an unbiased agent to resolve a problem between a customer and trader.
I should add this applies to any customer / trader transaction.

Mitre Saw Stand
I see that Bunnings have priced their Ozito stand which looks identical to Aldi's Workforce stand at 10c cheaper than Aldi's.
https://www.bunnings.com.au/ozito-mi...stand_p6290176
https://www.aldi.com.au/en/special-b...e-saw-stand-4/
I wonder if that is only while the Aldi Special buy is on or the normal price of the Ozito ?
