The Show
G'day all,
Got to the show early this morning, beat the lines. Was more of a look around today as I was with my Mum. Business tomorrow.
I ended up with a Diston 6tpi Rip saw, a Karri Burl and a Jarrah Slab. Not bad for a look around!
All up it was a very enjoyable day!
If you are going I recommend the Perth Wood School stall, very nicely setup with help from yours truly!
Thanks,
Harlan"If you can't kill a zombie with it, it ain't a weapon."

I went today, and came away a bit dissapointed. I was looking for bargains, but there were really none to be had.
I wanted:
- Veritas MkII jig - none available
- Sheppach wet/dry grinder for sharpening - none there
- Bessey kp unit - none there
- 12" Sanders - best I could get off was $20.

I was also a little disappointed, the show covered less area than last year. I sat through a talk about glues by Richard Vaughan and came away with little info. I was looking to buy a chuck but didn't see much and what I did was cheaper on the net. I did drop in on the Perth Wood School though and was very impressed with the buffet with the gum leaves marquetry, stunning.

I was also a little disapointed this year. Seemed to be a bit less stuff all round. Still enjoyed it though, especialy the competion pieces. Loved the Wall clock, can't remember who made it but certainly has inspired me to give one a go in a similar style. (If you are on here, where did you get the plans or was it ad libbed?)
The prices for everything certainly weren't sale prices. A lot of the things I was looking at were cheaper at Bunnings, especially the power hand tools. The world is a comedy to those that think, a tragedy to those that feel.

Disappointed...
I for one thought it was a great half day out, only a half day because I had seen everything in that time.
Went back today, took my girlfriend this time, spent more time than yesterday, looking talking because she wasn't a fast 'looker' and didn't mind me doing so.
Good thing I took her along because after a subtle hint, my lovely lady got me a nice Stanley # 3 in great condition.
Also had a good talk with Neil Erasmus about the course down in Dwellingup. I must say he is a very respectful and courteous man. I enjoyed the discussion very much.
Finally got some pictures of the burl and the tools I got. Excuse the mess.
Thanks,

I was there for three days and I reckon all you guys got to see more of it than me! I got to spend quite a bit of time checking out Chris Vesper's latest and greatest offerings each time he needed to take a break.
Thanks heaps for the compliments on our stand. It takes a huge effort physically and financially behind the scenes to set up and then pack up for the show, so to get a few compliments means a lot. Harlan worked his but off helping us set up! The compliments should really go to the people that made all the pieces we had on display. Had a serious offer for the cabinet with the marquetry gum leaves for $10000
