    Default Need timber shelf

    Hello,

I'm after someone in the South Eastern Suburbs of Melbourne who can cut & machine a solid timber shelf for me.

Ideally the species would be one of Blackwood, Black Butt, or Spotted Gum

    Shelf size is 1215 x 150 x 30 I

I need to support this shelf with invisible angle brackets which have already been concealed in the wall. So the shelf would also have slots routed in the wall side to allow the shelf to slide over the brackets sticking out at 90 degrees.

If your tooled up to make this work please email me with a cost.

    Sonny,

Do you have a photo of the wall bracket that you need the shelf to connect into?

I put up an Ikea wall shelf which I think sounds similar to what you are doing and it was simply a section of flat steel that screwed onto the wall with two long round steel rods extending out. The back edge of the shelf was rebated to conceal the flat steel section and two holes drilled out to side over the round steel rods. From memory there was a grub screw under to secure the shelf to the steel rod. The shelf was around 900mm long and to be honest it wasn't particularly strong, and that was even with the light weight cardboard core mdf shelf used by Ikea.

It should be an easy enough job for somebody but the bracket is the key.

    Cheers

    Stinky.

Haha, unfortunatley, I have all modern wood working tools to make kitchens, CNC router, Edgebander etc. Very rarely do I need solid timber machined to a specific thickness. Therefore I've never needed a Thicknesser. Just thought maybe some hobbiest, could do with small project.

    Sir Stinkalot

I've already attached 2 Angle brackets screwed directly to stud work. They are 125 x 125. Walls have been tiled. I now have 2 Metal brakets sticking 90 degrees out of the wall ready to slip a shelf 150mm deep onto them. Preferably concealed slot along back of solid shelf.
