    Default Timber strips

    Hi All,
What should I use to replicate old wardrobe doors that were made of timber and had a panelled effect. Shaker style I guess.
I have purchased new plain doors and wish to add a 70mm strips to the face of them to match other doors in our house. I was thinking MDF but the hairy edges are putting me off that and meranti is too grainy for the look.

    Any suggestions?

    Thanks

Pusser just mentioned that using diluted PVA as a size works well on the hairy grain.
