What is this tool
Does anyone know how to use this tool. I think it is a thread cutting jig. It belonged to a member that passed away.

it's a threading jig which mounts on the lathe in place of the tool rest. if you google hope woodturning /threading jig he has a couple of good videos showing how to use his. yours looks home made assembled from commercial bits but his videos will give you a very good idea how it works. like everything it needs practice.
cheers
