** Circular saw.

* Router.

I am so respectful of the chainsaw that I do not own one...

I don't think there are any tools I use that scare me as such. In fact I think that I would avoid using something at all if I was afraid of it. Fear is not a good starting point for something like that. I'd at least want someone who knew what they were doing to be there the first time.

I would say that there are some tools to which I give my utmost respect and undivided attention, and the circular saw is certainly one of them, as is the large angle grinder. Both are responsible for many industrial accidents. The table saw also shouldn't be taken for granted.

But the only thing that I have actually injured myself with is a sharp chisel.

If you've only used the saw three times in the last three years, I would put it down to being unfamiliar with the tool and I'd expect being scared to be replaced by being careful over time.

I still an a bit iffy with my routers at times.....dont like angle grinder...respect the table saw....my lathe is ok...just when i put some wood in turn it on at great speed then shove a chisel into gets me a bit......but is was the slow running tormek that got me one day...all have to be watched!!!

Tools don't scare me but I have a healthy respect for them and don't misuse them. I read the manuals and study how to use them safely when I buy them

I'd go along with that too. We had one that was used mainly for cutting baluster hand rails. It was made in 1905 and had been converted to electric. The cutters were held in place by a big knurled nut which we tightened using a pipe wrench on the end of a 4 foot length of gal pipe, usually with two of us swinging on it. Before switching it on, you had to yell "Contact" and everyone in the workshop would drop to the floor until it was up to warp speed. That was something to be scared of.

The only time I have felt scared using one of my tools is when I put a 1tpi blade on my bandsaw, and tried to cut through a big burl. I thought the bandsaw was going to destroy itself and take one of my limbs with it.

Oh, and I felt a bit of a twinge the first time I used my jointer after it took the end off one of my fingers.

But other than that I am always cautious using any power tool.

I'm with Arry, I rather use any tool other than a hand-held circular saw! Chainsaw, 9" grinder with a cut-off disc, Arbortech, gas axe, overhead belt sander... anything!

They seem to buck and kick like a rodeo bull when they get pinched. I've had a couple of close calls but it hasn't bitten me yet. Dangerous tool that.

ok my table saw has me a little nervous of it at the moment but i'm sure i'll get over that. deffiantly a large bladed spindle moulder, used one the other day and the first cut was a little scary.

the way that i look at it is that you should never become complacent with any machine, because once you do you'll be a thumb short. You should be comfortable but never to comfortable. if you're not sure about something, then don't do it. always ask someone who is well aquainted with the machine, theres nothing wrong with that at all, but there's something very wrong with hurting yourself.

take your time and take it easy.

Anything with a motor!
Saws, routers, lathes,etc.

I prefer to use these when there's no one around to distract me and I can concentrate on keeping my figures out of the way.
