Being of an age when comfort is important, as well as familar with Australian bush furniture, I would suggest the squatters chair.

..Yeah, he might end up getting one fletty....that little gem got a great response from his classmates and has encouraged him to try and dig up dirt on other designers.....
I'm not fussed what sparks their interest in design...as long as it's sparked

A bit larger than your normal chair but I like the style
