What type of wood is best for planter box?
I want to make a few planter boxes for my home. One will be exposed to the weather and the other will not. Can anyone recommend a type of wood to use and where is the best place to buy it here in Perth? I like the colour of Jarrah but maybe thats going to be too expensive. Our house is made of a rust coloured brick so I would like the colour to blend with that - either in the natural colour of the wood or otherwise by painting it.

Hi ennoh and welcome to the forum. Merbau sounds like the way to go to me. Stands up well outdoors and is easily sourced at an affordable price.
Cheers,

I'd be inclined to paint the inside liberally with bituminous paint to prevent any rot.

If you are prepared to paint them, perhaps have a look at treated pine.

I just cut up and used some pallets from the side of the road.
