USA visit - anything to pick up while there?
Hi folks,
Going to be in the US for work shortly, and while I'm over there I'll get some pen kits delivered that nobody in Oz stocks - may as well save myself some shipping!
Any other gear that is available over there but not here (or is cheaper!) that people can suggest? Obviously anything which needs power is problematic (although I am tempted to buy some cordless skins that I already have batteries for!).
Cheers,
Danny

I may have pre-emptively bought myself some Luban planes just recently to prevent being tempted by the entire veritas plane catalogue!

Danny, the USA is a big place. Where are you visiting, and what are your interests?

I'll be in Dallas, TX, and may find myself a little outside San Francisco (Santa Clara) for a few days too. I've been to Wood World in Dallas before and enjoyed it, I'll certainly be heading there.
I'm more of a turner than anything else (pens and anything else that takes my fancy), but after recently acquiring a table saw I'm branching out into boxes and hoping to do a bit more small furniture and other non-round things too...

I have found Rockler good to visit whilst in the states. Disclaimer they once gave me a hat!
California Store Locations
Unfortunately to some extent the internet has removed some of the romance about traveling abroad and finding new things. Whilst I enjoyed my time visiting the stores it all seemed familiar after constant browsing the catalogues. Now proudly sponsored by Binford Tools. Whilst in TX look up Curtis of Cactus Juice fame, plus see if you can score some Desert Ironwood, just make sure it is bark and bug free before you bring it back.

That's a good idea Neil! I have been working on getting set up for stabilising, it's actually a little tempting to try to bring back one of the turntex vac chambers...

I am interested in these replies as I'm going to Dallas on the 24th of this month myself and wanted to have a look at their Toolshops.
