Synopsis: an experimental approach to treating 2"x2"x3mm(ish) pieces of Basswood with NaOH and Na2SO3 to remove the lignum, then casting (with vacuum) in epoxy resin.

The results are... varied but I'd be satisfied with similar. Best of all, it's quite feasible to attempt at home on the same scale. Always keeping OH&S & the ecology in mind; the chemicals involved can be quite nasty if not handled or disposed of properly.

I'm tempted to try my hand and see if I can make some panes for a small coach-lantern style tea-candle burner.
