    Default Vacuum Sled for Planer/Thicknesser

I came across this Vacuum Sled for a Planer/Thicknesser on the LumberJocks website for 2011

    Vacuum Sled for Planer - by 489tad @ LumberJocks.com ~ woodworking community

I was just wondering if anyone has made or used one.

I try to recycle a good amount to timber in my toymaking as the timber in general is heaps better quality than I can buy locally.

My Planer/Thicknesser is a Dewalt 735 with infeed & outfeed folding tables which works very well though I have had difficulty with trying to thickness timber smaller than 1/4".....

Anyways, ladies & gents, I'd appreciate some feedback before I go ahead and have a go at building one, thank you.

    Cheers, Crowie

Looks like a pretty good idea. There really isn't much time or materials involved in having a crack so I'd just go for it if I was you!

    Peter,

I always use a piece of MDF and use double sided carpet tape to attach anything I want to take down less than 1/8". The thinner you make it the less tape you must use or it will break when you try to remove it.

Anything that thin is best dealt with on a drum sander, possibly at the local Men's Shed?
