Fourteen stools in a weekend
Last weekend I set about creating 14 wooden stools for my classroom, I already have 14 metal ones.
It means that I can provide small engaging chunks of theory in the prac room rather than going to a separate theory room and have the students disengage after about 15 minutes.
I used the Wolfenden doweling drill at work for the 900 holes which took less than two hours. At home I had 10 cramps to cramp the frames together, the frames consisted of two legs and two rails.
The frames were glued up every three hours starting at 6 pm on Friday and finishing at 6 am on Saturday morning. Getting up at 3 am was the hardest part of the whole process.
I used another two rails to join the frames together, this process was carried out every three hours starting at 2 pm, it and took until 11.00 pm on Saturday night to finish.
On Sunday morning I put a pencil round on the corners of the legs and seat and then glued and screwed the seat to the top rails. By 11.00 am Sunday morning the stools were finished.
I have did not apply a finish to the stools, but after a bit of use I might apply some shellac.

Daniel,
You are a one man production line and all done in your new shed.
I have convinced SWMBO about the bigger shed (yet to build it but the budget is approved) so I won't tell her about your shed or the budget might be withdrawn!

Daniel,
I think your effort is awesome. Up before the chooks requires either dedication or insanity.
Your idea of providing theory on the spot is definitely on target. Putting theory into context in the workshop is far more likely to get through, and to be recalled in the future.
I still remember particular teachers and things they said in the prac workshops, and that was pre-decimal currency!!!
Keep at it.Ian
