    Default veneered edges

I thought I would be good to the environment and bought some veneered chipboard instead of using a whole lot of jarrah just to make some desk tops.

Anyways, I got the company to veneer the top and edge it all round. wasnt cheap.

The only issue is that the intersection of the top and sides has what looks like a glue join line. Its pure white and really noticeable. I have just been sanding the top and wondering what the hell im going to do about it.

Im thinking maybe pare a small edge off the corner and put some wood putty? doenst sound great and Im sure it will look worse. Not sure what else to do though....

Also, it appears the veneer is pulling away from the edge a bit. any tips on how to correct this?

    cheers

    Hi Redback
looks like the Co wot cut the board for you didn't have their scoring blade set up correctly so that the edge is under cut a bit . Borrow SWBO's iron and on low heat you can use it to re- atatch the veneer that is coming off and if you hold the iron at an angle to the edge you should be able to close up the white gap . The white is most likely hot melt glue .
    Cheers

What Peter said but put a clean cloth between the iron and the veneer as the iron can leave marks, especially if it has an aluminium sole.

    Hi Redback,

    Please advise if that worked?

Also, has anyone made up their own veneer, and faced the issue of how to finish end-grain without edge-banding (which I hate)?

    Cheers!
