Veritas Dowel Maker
Had a bit of a play with the Veritas Dowel Maker that I picked up recently.
Fantastic bit of gear. Very easy to use and gives great results.
I ripped down some scrap, don't even know what it is but it's hardwood. One was from a 100 year old house frame the other was a bit of a door jamb.
Whatever they make door jambs out of it is very hard and heavy and machines beautifully.

The basic dowel maker can produce 1" and 15/16" dowels.
You can make 1/4" to 7/8", in 1/16" increments, with the inserts contained in the kit.
Realistically you can fine tune each dowel for pretty much any size you want.
The blades on the dowel maker can be micro adjusted to get the size exactly where you want.
I didn't bother to fine tune today as I was just getting to know the Dowel Maker but it is very easy to use.

I made two, nominally 1" dowels and two 7/8" dowels because that was the closest sizes to the required rough stock that my scrap was.
I didn't bother to check what size they were but just powered through and made the dowels.

As you can see they were pretty close for zero adjustment. You are supposed to put a few centimetres of dowel through, check the size, adjust the position of the finishing blade and continue making the dowel. Maybe next time.
You can get inserts for three standard arrow sizes, which I intend to do, and make some custom arrows. No hurry though, it's just a bit of fun and variety for woodworking. Those were the droids I was looking for.

I have been tempted several times to buy this set.
It has been too big an investment for occassional use.
I make some 600mm long spindles for instrument handles. My lathe skills are limited and the long, thin, about 20mm diameter, spindles a bit of a challenge.
Fortunately sandpaper fixes most poor skills.
Then I make thin dowels for decorative pins in boxes and drawers. I use a homemade dowel plate and a hammer or drill. It works half the time.
I'll keep an eye out for your future projects.
CheersScally
